Money – not the Root of all Evil
No, money is not the root of all evil; it is simply a means of exchange.
The actual statement in the Bible is “The love of money is the root
of all evil”, and that is a totally different matter. Consider the
difference between people who use money simply to buy the things they need
or to donate to charity, as against those who use money to acquire power
over others, or to buy much more than they need, or even to keep it (under
their mattress, maybe!) rather than to share it around.
This month will be a time of conflicting thoughts, certainly for Christians
if not for everyone in the world. December is the month for spending, on
gifts, on entertainment, on fireworks displays, on fairy lights –
and, of course, on sales. . . Yet at this very time the world is going through
a financial crisis, with many thousands of people suddenly being jobless,
with huge companies crashing or tightening their belts, with banks receiving
governmental help but being very slow to pass help on to their customers.
This is the month, therefore, for taking stock of where you stand, of how
you are going to manage your affairs and those relationships that perhaps
have depended on your income. Sometime soon my booklet entitled “Money
Dynamics” will be available. It will contain full details of the laws
that govern the flow of money in one’s life; Divine Laws, cosmic laws,
scientific laws – call them what you will – but not man-made
laws. Each law will have its own full explanation, and a worksheet that
will enable you to examine whether it applies to you, and if it does, how
best to benefit from it.
For this month, however, do spend a little while reading through the brief
introductions to the ten Money Laws, overleaf. One of them may help you
even before the New Year brings about its changes.
Money Dynamics
The Laws that govern the Flow of Money
THE LAW OF CREATION
Creativity is an ongoing cause,
abundance its ongoing effect.
THE LAW OF CIRCULATION
Money needs people more
than people need money.
THE LAW OF REACTION
Money respected, blesses and increases;
money despised, curses and decreases.
THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
Money attaches itself to persons
not to places, possessions or professions.
THE LAW OF ACTION
Money tends to attach itself to the doer
rather than the theorizer.
THE LAW OF APPRECIATION
Money grudgingly or fearfully parted with
disappears without trace;
money gladly given, returns multiplied.
THE LAW OF DEDICATION
There are more ways out of debt
than there are ways in.
THE LAW OF INTERACTION
Debts reluctantly paid hurt the debtor
as much as the creditor;
debts gratefully paid enrich both.
THE LAW OF ACCRETION
Money squandered or foolishly lost
tends to draw more money after it;
money wisely sown harvests lavishly.
THE LAW OF ACTUALISATION
Money tends to attach itself to the creator
rather than the waiter.
This Month’s Affirmation
Affirm this statement twice daily, and more often if you wish. Before long, you will develop an attitude and experiences in accord with it.
“Money flows into my life from sources known and unknown, expected and unexpected. It enriches me and I enrich others with it.”
